An entry for a writing competition I recently participated in, with the theme “Tomorrow”. It’s an allusion to the conflict we currently face, so find out if you can do some poem analysis right there :D.
Tomorrow, aren’t I brave?
Tomorrow, please take me away.
Tomorrow reaches out a loving hand,
Just to snatch it away.
Tomorrow brings a new slew of bullets,
Tomorrow blows a kiss of Death,
Tomorrow takes away yet another,
Friend
after
friend.
Tomorrow stares at me with pain-filled eyes,
Tomorrow tells me, “Your time is up”
But I will still fight.
For my Tomorrow.
Tomorrow cries as I breathe my last sigh,
As I remember my memory-filled lands,
Tomorrow takes me away from this pain,
For it was Tomorrow’s bullet that was shot,
But still, I will fight.
For my Tomorrow.
Signing off…
