The Holiday Curse

“Cough, cough, achoo!”

Here come the holidays,

And once more, poor old Mili,

Is down with the darned flu.

A sneeze that could shake the foundations of Earth,

A nose that leaks like a dripping faucet,

Half the holidays wasted on this “nonsense” and “idiocy”,

I couldn’t sniff the flowers in Spring because of you!

Here comes beautiful, warm Summer,

“Cough, cough, achoo!”

OH, NOT THIS AGAIN, NOT THE FLU-

Mili, what’s wrong with you?

A cough that festers across the house,

A murky puddle of mucus on the ground(EW!),

A temperature of 40 degrees Celsius,

I couldn’t eat ice-cream in Summer because of you!

Then cometh the cool winds of Autumn,

“Cough, cough, achoo!”

“ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?”

Don’t tell me it’s the darned flu!

And the nose honks,

And my parents talk,

And the holidays are gone,

I’m telling you, this is all a big con!

Cold, freezing Winter,

Red noses and an everlasting cold,

“Cough, cough, achoo!”

“OH MY GOD, NOT AGAIN, IT’S YOU?”

Spring or Summer or Autumn or Winter,

Sleighs, flies and flowers, the Holiday Curse,

Seemingly attached to my very soul,

And it’s back with an echoing vengeance,

You know what,

At this point,

I’ll consider it my best friend.

Signing off…
