Well! Every person, when they first get their phone, it comes along with the usual parental controls, restrictions and lectures(http://miliscape.com/phone-cied/). Of course, I was no exception to this universal rule. Well, I was, up until a certain point.

The Science Project
With the easing of the pandemic restrictions, our school was back with the competitions that we had missed out on for the past two years. Our science teacher organized a “Science Fair”, and we were tasked with designing a product or presenting research to solve any real-life problem, big or small. We were allowed to select our group members (THANKFULLY!!). It was part of our science enrichment program, so me and my team members cut to the chase and began to brainstorm.

The second day, we had originally planned to go to the A’Famosa Safari and Water Wonderland, which I was looking forward to with a spring in my step, but to my utter disappointment, it started pouring, the heavens crying deluges above us. I was so upset as I had been dreaming all night about what we would do, and fury overtook that sadness when all the adults cancelled the Safari and decided to go to Jonker Street to view antique shops instead. Now, don’t get me wrong. I respect the latter’s interest in antiques. But antiques were just…not for me! Isn’t antique viewing for old people? LIKE ANTIQUE LITERALLY MEANS OLD!

Thank you! Seriously!
Woah! What a wonderful year! Time flies! It is as if it was just yesterday that I started exploring WordPress and was absolutely clueless as to how to even construct a self-sustaining website. So, I thought it would be better to ask for help, and my father came to the rescue! Phew!

“I DON’T FIND IT INTERESTING”.
That’s a phrase that shows up a lot in my speech, containing 1000 reasons as to why, I won’t, will never, never did like Business Studies. As in, stuffing pages and books of information into your already overloaded brain. It’s indeed a terrible experience.

As you all know, badminton is extremely rejuvenating AND a sport that elevates your fitness, stamina, and joy ! Out of all the activities and hobbies that I pursue, playing badminton is unanimously, undoubtedly, something I enjoy the most. Recently, I decided to begin learning badminton formally and commenced my badminton classes.

The elephant lumbers up to his calves, cutting a sharp path through the thick foliage. Animals greet him with enthusiastic twerps and excited cheers as he swaggers by. Exhaustion looms over his face and the arduous task has made his feet wobbly. But he walks with poise. The calves dart, frolicking around one of their younger cousins, squabbling over a toy that they discovered recently.

I am in high spirits. I HAVE FINALLY OBTAINED MY PHONE!
You know the impediments of not possessing a smartphone in today’s world, right? It is subversive, against the norms of social etiquette. Your friends are continuously comparing game scores, discussing their lives over WhatsApp, planning trips, contributing to important decisions like climate change and habitat loss(or so it seems) discussing projects animatedly and listening to their favorite music and what are you doing, suffering in FOMO? This phone-free status had turned my world upside down and made me feel like a “recluse”. It didn’t matter if this device provided you with uninhibited access to the inevitable, cyberbullying, vulnerabilities, and distractions (A huge list provided by my well-wishers), I was not OK to live in the pre-historic times, you see! And clearly, the positives outweighed the negatives. (At least, for now…)
