Grace And Fury

In a world where women have no rights, two sharply contrasting sisters Serina and Nomi Tessaro face two vastly different, unexpected fates that separate them but are inexplicably twined together.

Serina has dreamed of being a Grace her whole life – someone to stand by the heir as the epitome of a perfect queen, the shining example of beauty, power and strength. But when her headstrong and rebellious younger sister, Nomi, draws the heir’s attention, it’s Serina who takes the blame, to protect Nomi’s secret from being revealed.

Nomi’s now thrown into an unfamiliar, unwanted life. The only hope she has of getting her sister back lies in the dangerous royal family, who’s preference she must now become. She must surrender to her life as a Grace, putting on a facade every day. This is easier said than done. A deceitful traitor roams the grand halls of the palace and betrayal lurks around every twisting corner. But Serina is rapidly running out of time, imprisoned on a fortressed island where she must fight to the death for everything she needs, to survive. Will Nomi make the right choices? Will she save her in time?

Grace and Fury, by Tracy Banghart

This is THE BEST book I’ve read in a while, and that’s an awfully long time.

An overwhelming mix of heartbreak, feminism and sisterhood, Grace and Fury explores a world where women have no rights, where they have to fight for every word they utter and every action they perform. When I first picked up this book, peeking out of a shelf in the library, I was instantly captivated by its plot and its characters. It was an incredible read, and I absolutely loved it.

  • The heart of the story was the sisters’ tempestuous and dynamic relationship, a dominant and powerful element in the book. And that was what made me keep turning the pages, learning about these two fiercely devoted, wonderful characters who were determined to make an impact on the world.
  • The twists and turns were a rollercoaster, and I could NOT put the book down. From treason to trickery, from trust to truth, it was a stormy ride that transported me to new dimensions every time. I gasped, screamed, wondered, and fantasized, all while reading this very book.
  • Serina’s character growth and determination astounded me to no ends. The most driven personality in this book, I watched her transform from a frightened, subdued rule-follower to an aggressive, strong, perseverant, and rallying leader. The hidden fire that burnt inside her astonished me, and Tracy Banghart brought it out and nurtured it, creating an all-consuming inferno. The way she gradually developed the characters, adding little surprises along their intertwined journeys(Shhh, no spoilers! Read it for yourself!)is something only an amazing writer like her could do.
  • I do wish I saw more of Nomi’s development, but she’s still a mind-blowing, gorgeous girl who kept me engrossed throughout the whole book.
  • My favorite thing about Grace and Fury is the fact that even though they were leading hugely different lives that challenged them and threw obstacles into their paths, they still found their way back to each other. They rooted for one another the whole time, and I was rooting for them too.

This book is an addictive must-read, a swashbuckling feminist fantasy and the mark of an impregnable, impenetrable bond between two invincible siblings. I highly recommend reading this book, and I’m certain that you’re going to enjoy it immensely too.
